Educator Stress

Let’s face it, being an educator is not easy!  We are often called to make miracles with a toothpick and a paperclip. If we are able to enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee, it's truly a good day! We live a life of service, often forgetting about ourselves in the process. We often blame ourselves if our students aren’t accessing the curriculum, we forgot your meetings notes, or for just being exhausted!  Over the past several years, there has been an increase in mental health needs of both students and staff, due to the covid pandemic.  While there has been a great focus on helping our students readjust to “normal life”, we have not focused that same attention on the social emotional needs of our educators.  We have been impacted by the pandemic too, yet we are expected to be “adults” about it and keep moving. We are told to “figure it out” and if we do need help, find it in the vast sea of therapists that have long waitlists or who do not even respond. This is something that we need to address immediately.  We can’t keep walking around like we aren’t wounded too.

This is a 4-6 week virtual support group for all non-administrative educators (not just teachers). It is a safe and supportive space for people to process and manage their overall stress, develop coping skills, connect with other educators, create a self-care plan, to have a moment to breathe and just to be human. The group has a cap of 10 participants per cohort. We are strong believers in the power of groups and shared experiences.
